Ten Games To Watch – #7

I’m on vacation this week, but since the pre-sale is on, I thought I’d pre-load some content as we begin the lead-up to the start of training camp by counting down the “Ten Games To Watch” for 2009-10.

#7 vs Chicago Bulls, Wed. Dec. 9, 2009

Atlanta won 47 games last year. Chicago won 41. The Hawks made it to the second round of the playoffs. The Bulls lost in the first – and before you start talking about what an amazing series they had against Boston (which they of course did), remember the Hawks have been there, done that. So when it came time to put the two teams on TNT this season, the Hawks got one game while the Bulls garnered 9. Eh?

Yes, I realize I’m being petty, but it makes me mad that a team we beat 3-0 in last year’s season series gets more pub than we do. Yes, Derrick Rose is amazing and fun to watch, but I wager if you ask which team plays a more exciting brand of basketball, more often than not you’ll hear it’s the one that plays its home games at the Highlight Factory.

Therefore I am definitely circling this game, the first of 4 meetings between two squads who, if pundits are correct, will be jockeying all season for playoff positioning.

Match-ups to watch: Jamal Crawford began his NBA career with the Bulls, so I imagine he’ll be pumped for this one. Al Horford dominated the Bulls in the post last year going against his former Florida teammate in Joakim Noah, while Joe Johnson will try to match a season-high 41 in Chicago last December.

What do you think?

LMBO at atownhawk23 and Hawksgirl arguing over JJ, yall trippin’.

I hope JJ drops another 40 on them and Big Al gets a triple double on them. The Bulls weren’t all that. TNT is lame anyhow. I think they did our Hawks a favor. We fans don’t have to endure the insults of Charles Barkley and Kenny Smith talking about dribble dribble dribble dribble dribble shoot. One game watching those guys is enough for me. I think they suck. EJ seems alright though.
My first preference is Sportsouth and FSN anyway. If the game is showed on TNT and one of the local channels there’s no doubt I’m going with the local channel. I just feel sorry for the people not able to watch locally. Guess they’re stuck with TNT for one game. You would think NBATV and TNT would show a little more respect for the Hawks since they are located in Atlanta. SMH!

I don’t consider it petty when you speak truth. The Hawks were slighted by TNT. Yes the Bulls made the playoffs and went into a lot of overtimes with the Celtics. But that wouldn’t have been the case had KG been healthy and on the court. A thinking person would know this.

I feel that the Hawks have a long way to go until they garner the respect they deserve. Trying to erase a decade of losing and being the quote “Clippers of the east” or “laughingstock of the NBA”, is no easy feat. Our Hawks need to brush off the slights and continue on their plight to being counted among the elite. And when they accomplish this guess who’ll have the last laugh.

True Mz. Hawkdafied/Number One Lady Fan/Hawkette so true. Our hawks have to overcome these crabby tv announcers. I personally cant stand charles! But our hawks have overcome the odds for two years straight, now they have to overcome the trip up phase. Dont backtrack move forward. We all know our hawks are capable of being the best, we just have to be behind them every step of the way. Let’s Go Hawks!
