Hawks Lending A Helping Hand

This just in from the Hawks Community department:

In the wake of the recent flooding in metro Atlanta, the Atlanta Hawks are conducting a School Supply Drive on Wednesday, October 7th to benefit Clarkdale Elementary School in Austell.  Other than the standing structure, the school lost practically everything.  Fans who donate new school supplies with a minimum of $10 value will receive a voucher good for two complimentary tickets to the October 28th or 30th Hawks game. Drop-off locations will be at the Centennial Olympic Park Drive, CNN, Marta and First Horizon Club entrances.  The drive will run through doors open through the end of the first quarter.

To aid in the rebuilding process, the Atlanta Hawks Foundation and Atlanta Thrashers Foundation are both contributing $5,000 to Cobb County Schools Foundation for the Clarkdale Elementary School Relief Fund.  Monies will be used to purchase supplies needed by teachers and other supplies such as books needed for the media center.

Seems like a pretty good deal – make a small donation to help people affected by the recent flooding and get to see a Hawks game for your troubles.

I’ll be sure to alter my work schedule to have plenty of time to bring in new items for the students! Is there any information on if volunteers are needed for the clean-up/rebuilding process? I’m willing to help in any way possible! The Atlanta Hawks Foundation has greatly inspired me to give back to my community since moving to the Atlanta area.

Ahhh! How touching! Hawks are taking care of the kids. Kids are my soft spot. Anything for the kids. Count me in. Perfect too. That’s right after pay day. LOL!

I had the opportunity to come through to bring in items for the students and teachers of Clarkdale Elementary and I must say that at the end of the day, the most rewarding and best part of my day was donating items to a great cause. Giving back to my community today felt AMAZING and I am definitely going to particpate in more community service activities in my part of Atlanta. :) :) :)
