Shootaround Update: Jamal Still Out

Wednesday, December 22, 2010
By Jon Newberry

Word from shootaround today is that Jamal Crawford will miss his fifth consecutive game with a sore back. The Cavs lineup skews toward smaller and quicker at the guard positions, so Jamal’s absence could mean increased minutes for Jeff Teague. Plus, Mike Bibby played almost 40 minutes in Monday’s win against Orlando, so if the Hawks are able to take control early, coach Drew may take advantage of the opportunity to give his hot shooting point guard a rest  (see Dec. 11 win over Indy).

A RARE BREAK IN THE SCHEDULE

The Hawks have had to endure a brutal schedule early this season. Atlanta is tied with Cleveland having played the most back-to-backs (10) in the NBA this year, and Miami is the only team that has played as many total games (30). The back-to-backs have been so constant that the Hawks had to play four games in five nights on two separate occasions in December alone.

That is the bad news.

The good news is that after tonight’s game the Hawks get three days without a game. Plus, Atlanta does not have to battle through another stretch of four games in five days the rest of the season.

The trades you all are suggesting arent making any sense a team doesent make a trade un less they save money or get better so why would they trade a top 5 Socring PF,and a potential future Dwight Howard, for crap c’mon smh that wont happen commmon guys get creative!!! I hear the Rockets want Joe For Kevin Martin and Maybe Jordan Hill,

I doubt it because though Kevin Martin is a better shooter than Joe He cant account for all of joe’s scoring, plus joes a much better defender we would definately play worse, but say we add onother team or two to the trade we could probablly get some help, ultimately the goal is to get good enough to contend for a championship, though ut seems like Rick Sund is comfortable with our team, We have been just short of an elite team for two season now and i want us to make the transition, but as soon as I come up with some thing reasonable ill post it
