These Guys are Good…

As we prepare for the productivity of the entire nation to drop off this Thursday as the NCAA tournament kicks into full gear, we felt that it was a good time to remind fans that the best players in the world play in the NBA.

One benefit of getting access to practice is that you get to see first hand how good these guys really are.

For instance, everyone knows that Josh Smith is an athletic freak, but that label is never given to Willie Green, the Hawks’ back-up shooting guard.

At 6’3″ and 200 lbs, Willie is not necessarily known for his athleticism in a league that is full of guys that can jump out of the gym. Still, an oop to yourself off the back of the backboard is pretty impressive.

“You can go from the superstar or All-Star starter to the last guy on the bench, there’s a lot of guys that can play the game and are super athletic,” said Green. “Some of the greatest athletes in the world are in the NBA.”

“I had done it once before, but I hadn’t done it in a while. So I figured I would try it. That’s all.”

On the other end of the court Marvin Williams was going through shooting drills with the Hawks Player Development Instructor, Nick Van Exel. Marvin, who reportedly hit 25 in a row from behind the arc during one session this season, hit ten in a row with the cameras rolling. You can hear him say “NOPE” as the 11th shot is in the air if you listen closely.
