New York Knicks v Atlanta Hawks

We are counting down the days until the Hawks’ season-opener in Dallas by giving you 50 things to be excited about this year.  With 46 days left, today’s is…

Celebrities at Philips Arena

No, we aren’t talking about the dozens of concerts and shows Philips hosts every year (though that is certainly exciting as well).  We’re talking about the numerous celebrities seen at Hawks games.

Last year recording artists T.I., 2 Chainz, and Ciara frequented the arena during our games.  Justin and B.J. Upton, Freddie Freeman and Brian McCann were among several Braves players who made an appearance.  Conan O’Brien was in the house, as was Michael Jordan.  When the NCAA Final Four was in town, big coaching names such as Tom Izzo, Brad Stevens and Jim Boeheim checked us out.  We’re even known to have whole teams come in, such as the Clemson Tigers the week of the Chick-fil-A Bowl or the Virginia Cavaliers while in town to play Georgia Tech.  And oh yes, Mayor Kasim Reed is a big Hawks fan and was spotted at several games last season.

So who will it be this season?  Take your best guess, and get your Hawks Membership so you can be there when they are!

We also want your input.  What are you most excited about this upcoming season.  Leave a comment below to let us know, and we may feature your idea in our countdown!

  1. Jordan Valdés

I am most excited to see Gustavo Ayon play. He had an amazing performance at the FIBA Americas tournament. Also, as a person of Mexican background, it is awesome to have the only Mexican NBA player playing for my favorite team. He is also the first change we have had at the backup center spot since 2007.
