Los Angeles Lakers v New Orleans Hornets

We are counting down the days until the Hawks’ season-opener in Dallas by giving you 50 things to be excited about this year.  With 45 days left, today’s is…

The All-Star Game

The 2014 NBA All-Star Game is scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 14 in New Orleans.  Why are we excited?  Because we feel like we have a number of guys who could be there.

Two-time All-Star Al Horford will probably be in New Orleans if he carries his dominant second half of last season over to this year.  Paul Millsap is a breakout candidate who could finally see his stats soar in Mike Budenholzer’s system.  Jeff Teague is looking to build on a career-best season, and a number of other players, including Kyle Korver, Lou Williams, DeMarre Carroll and Dennis Schröder all could see enough playing time to build All-Star type numbers.

In addition, the NBA will also hold the annual Rising Stars Challenge, Skills Challenge, Three-Point Contest and Slam Dunk Contest.  With the number of different skill sets the Atlanta players possess this season, there’s potential to see a number of guys in New Orleans in February.  Time will tell.

Which Hawks do you think will be All Stars?

We also want your input.  What are you most excited about this upcoming season.  Leave a comment below to let us know, and we may feature your idea in our countdown!
