In this year’s edition of ESPN the Magazine’s NBA preview. Each of the league’s 30 teams is featured in their own art-laden preview, celebrating and paying tribute to classic characters and storylines while also prognosticating about what the 2010-2011 season will bring. Shawn Crystal, a sequential art professor from SCAD (Savannah College of Art and Design), led a collaboration with the magazine and Marvel Comics to come up with the Hawks artwork. Click Here to read the full press release about the project.

An excerpt from the blurb accompanying the artwork reads:

“…Atlanta has two things in their favor: consistency and youth. All five starters are together for a second year, and Atlanta’s talented trio of 24-year-olds (forwards Marvin Williams and Josh Smith, center Al Horford) have the lowest minutes-adjusted average age (26.5) among the league’s top eight playoff seeds.”

Chime in below to let us know what you think about Joe Johnson’s look as a comic book character.

Hawks and horford agrre to a 5 year 60 million dollar contract. This means we’ll be in the playoffs for another 5-6 years. Our next concern is giving jamal an extension. Possibly a 4 year 40 million dolldar contract.
