In this year’s edition of ESPN the Magazine’s NBA preview. Each of the league’s 30 teams is featured in their own art-laden preview, celebrating and paying tribute to classic characters and storylines while also prognosticating about what the 2010-2011 season will bring. Shawn Crystal, a sequential art professor from SCAD (Savannah College of Art and Design), led a collaboration with the magazine and Marvel Comics to come up with the Hawks artwork. An excerpt from the blurb accompanying the artwork reads:

“…Atlanta has two things in their favor: consistency and youth. All five starters are together for a second year, and Atlanta’s talented trio of 24-year-olds (forwards Marvin Williams and Josh Smith, center Al Horford) have the lowest minutes-adjusted average age (26.5) among the league’s top eight playoff seeds.”
