Here are the latest ‘Notes & Quotes’ as the Hawks prepare for tonight’s Game 2 at the United Center:

  • Monday’s win was Atlanta’s first in the second round of the playoffs since 1997, but it also marked the first time that the team has won five games in a single postseason since 1994. One more victory and the Hawks will match their postseason win total from 1988, when Dominique Wilkins and Atlanta pushed Bird and the Celtics to seven games in the second round.
  • Jamal Crawford continues to hit from long-range, currently ranking third in 3-pointers made this postseason (21).
  • The Hawks were much more active and accurate in the lane now that they aren’t dealing with the 3-time Defensive POY Dwight Howard. In Game 1 they shot 63% in the lane (up from 53% in the Orlando series) and made 14 shots at the rim (up from 8 per game against the Magic).

– Joe Johnson
I’m sure they will come up with different schemes and tactics tonight to try to slow us down. We just gotta stay poised and focused and we’ll be alright.

I think Rose will be more on the attack in Game 2 trying to get fouls… I’m sure he’s gonna try his best to get to the line.

– Josh Smith
We’re just trying to use our athleticism. Just trying to make it tought down there for guys to get shots off. We have to be a nuisance down there on a consistant basis in order to win the series ’cause that’s where they get most of their points.

– Al Horford
We know how good of a team they are and how they play inside out. I think we did a really good job just challenging them at the rim and making it tough for them to score.
