Atlanta’s Josh Smith and Boston’s Ray Allen were both “gametime decisions” for Game 3 on Friday night, and the “decisions” did not go in the Hawks’ favor. Smith opted to rest his ailing left knee and aim for a return on Sunday night’s Game 4, and Allen suited up for his first live action since April 10.

“I just have to rest and see how it feels,” Josh told Michael Cunningham of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution before the game. “I don’t want to risk a domino effect and it being something more than what it is.”

Josh participated in Friday’s morning shootaround and did not immediately rule out playing in the game.

“It felt pretty good until I started doing a lot of exploding up the basket,” Smith said. “That’s where the pain really starts to generate when I become explosive with it. But as far as running and cutting and everything else it feels OK.”
