25 Days Until the Hawks’ Season

We are counting down the days until the Hawks’ season-opener in Dallas by giving you 50 things to be excited about this year. With 25 days left, today’s reason is…

Hawks Players on Twitter

Twitter has become one of the best ways for fans to keep up with what players are doing and interact with their favorite players. The Hawks players on Twitter each have their own style, and is one reason we’re excited about the upcoming season.

Al Horford has the most followers of any Hawks player with 160,000+. Horford often sends tweets in both Spanish and English and interacts with his fans in both languages. Al will also send out post-practice pictures of him getting treatment like this one from last week.

Lou Williams has 80,000+ followers and most of Lou’s recent tweets have been related to his mixtape “Here Goes Nothin'” that dropped this summer (which is quite good, if you’re into rap music go listen to it). He also posts videos about his recovery and rehabilitation from ACL surgery. Jeff Teague tweets sparingly, but has the best Twitter bio of any of the Hawks’ players: “This jeff teague my real twitter account.” He tends to tweet about video games, his sneaker collection, and being bored on the road.

Twitter also allows new players a chance to interact with new fans and get accustomed to their new city. DeMarre Carroll has used Twitter frequently to get a feel for the new city, asking fans to tell him about Atlanta’s best bowling alley, seafood restaurant, steakhouse, and more.

Rookie point guard Dennis Schröder’s excitement about being in the NBA and on his own comes through on his Twitter account and he uses Twitter to post a lot of photos. He posts photos of his new apartment, going shopping at Lenox mall, his first jersey, his first locker, and his excitement to find himself in NBA  2K14.

No one is a more frequent tweeter than Mike Scott. Scott always entertains with his Throwback Thursday and Sock Saturday photos and his many other Instagram posts.

All of the Hawks’ players have their own styles on Twitter, but each interact with fans and Twitter offers a unique way of getting to know about the players lives off the court. Here is a list of the Hawks players and their Twitter handles. Give them a follow for this season.
