20 Days Until the Atlanta Hawks Season
We are counting down the days until the Hawks’ season-opener in Dallas by giving you 50 things to be excited about this year. With 20 days left, today’s reason is…
The Hawks Transition Game
If the first two preseason games are any indication, the Hawks are going to be fun to watch this season. A lot of fun.
Part of that is because of this team’s ability to get out and run in transition. Last year’s Hawks team was very good in the open floor, but this team could be even better.
The forwards on this Atlanta team, namely DeMarre Carroll, Paul Millsap, Al Horford and Mike Scott, can all run, as we saw this week. When the Hawks get a defensive rebound or a live ball turnover, there’s no hesitation. They get it into the hands of a guard quickly, and it’s off to the races.
Being good in the open floor makes you a very hard team to defend, and with no “superstar,” the Hawks will have to rely on transition offense to keep up with some of the league’s best. So far, so good.
