I have several questions about this, none more pressing than those that concern the allegorical meaning of the Hawknado. Wouldn’t the Hawknado be something that the Atlanta Hawks create by their effective play on the basketball court? To put it more broadly, wouldn’t members of the Atlanta Hawks, and by extension their cheerleaders, welcome a Hawknado?

If so, then why does the disaster in this video seem to be encouraged by, or perhaps even made up of, a large number of hawks? I’ve watched the sequence that occurs briefly at around 1:28 about 7 times now. It’s a quick sequence, but it definitely seems to me that this distressed cheerleader is actually punching a hawk. Is that what’s happening there? Why? Hawks should sense her natural affinity for them and land softly on her shoulder, vowing to be her protector forever after.

If the bird she is punching at 1:28 is a member of some other species, then a clearer distinction should be made between types of birds in this video. Perhaps it could be reshot so that a hawk flies off her shoulder to dispatch of a bird that would otherwise have menaced the cheerleading crew. Actually, forget about another bird, why doesn’t the hawk help her defeat a bull or a knickerbocker or a pacer or something? (Pacernado has a great ring to it.) In general, I guess I’m suggesting that the entire relationship between the team and the Hawknado might need to be rethought, or maybe the Hawknado just needs to be renamed the Heatnado or something like that, so that it is more clear how the video contributes to my interest in seeing the Atlanta Hawks get past the second round of the playoffs.

    Thank you,
