Hawks Well-Represented At All-Star Weekend
The Atlanta Hawks will be well represented at the 2014 All-Star Weekend in New Orleans.
Paul Millsap was selected to his first All-Star Game, voted by coaches around the league as one of seven Eastern Conference reserves.
Joining Millsap at All-Star weekend will be rookie Pero Antic, who catapulted up the rookie ladder after taking over as Atlanta’s starting center in January. He was selected as one of nine rookies in the Rising Stars Challenge. While his playing status is unknown because of a recent foot injury, it’s still a huge honor for the 31-year-old from Macedonia. If he does play, he’ll be on Grant Hill’s team. Hill drafted Antic on Thursday, along with Damian Lillard, Bradley Beal, Andre Drummond, Harrison Barnes, Terrence Jones, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Jonas Valanciunas and Dion Waiters.
Hall-of-Famer and Hawks legend Dominique Wilkins will once again participate in the Shooting Stars competition. Wilkins teamed up with the Miami Heat’s Chris Bosh and WNBA star Swin Cash to win the competition in 2013, and the three will once again be together to defend their title this year.
Hawks trainer Wally Blase will be the Eastern Conference’s trainer for the weekend. Every NBA team will also have a cheerleader represented throughout the weekend, and for the Hawks, it will be Rose. Click here to learn more about her.
Another Atlanta connection…92.9 The Game’s Kristen Ledlow, who also co-hosts NBA TV’s “Inside Stuff” with Hill, will be part of the All-Star Celebrity Game.
