Pero Antic’s “Team Hill” Wins Rising Stars Challenge
Unable to play because of a foot injury, rookie Pero Antic instead watched from the bench as his team won the Rising Stars Challenge 142-136.
Antic was selected by NBA assistant coaches as one of nine rookies to participate, but a late January injury forced him to miss the game.
MVP Andre Drummond led Team Hill’s triumph with 30 points and 25 rebounds, including a huge offensive board that sealed the deal late. Dion Waiters had a team-high 31 points, and Tim Hardaway Jr. had a game-high 36 for Team Webber.
Perhaps the most entertaining part (other than the dunks and overall ridiculous offense) was a late second-half stretch in which Waiters and Hardaway staged a mini-one-on-one game within a game, combining to make five straight three-pointers on five possessions.
Antic didn’t play, but he was a part of all of Friday’s festivities. He practiced with the team in the morning, took part in the NBA Cares All-Star Day of Service in the afternoon and was recognized before tip-off.
